Rowin Breaux
Mentor
Rowin Breaux is a newcomer to the Reno/Tahoe area after moving from Tacoma, Washington, where he was a certified youth peer counselor for over three years. Rowin grew up in rural Northern California, where having access to the expanse of coastal Mendocino instilled a deep appreciation for the benefits of being close to and in nature. He had the opportunity to attend Idyllwild Arts Academy, a performing arts boarding school in mountains above Palm Springs, which propelled him to pursue theater early in life.
Rowin eventually moved to Minneapolis Minnesota, where he was the 2018/19 performing apprentice at the Minneapolis Children's Theater Company. During this time, he discovered his passion for working with youth and although his life path originally was aimed toward professional theater, Rowin had found a passion for using his lived experience as a trans-racial adoptee to help youth experiencing difficulties in their own lives.
In his free time, Rowin enjoys spending time with his wife and their 2-year-old daughter, exploring trails and lakes, long car rides, and playing video games. He is also an avid baseball fan. Rowin is a big believer in peer voice and choice and working from a client-centered perspective. He strives to build authentic relationships, believing it is the cornerstone for trust, change and growth.
