Connecting People to Nature

The GateWay Mountain Center for Place-Based Learning and Adventure is a non-profit education center.  We have provided field education programs for school groups in natural history and summer and winter mountaineering in Yosemite and the High Sierra since 1994. Some of the most experienced mountain guides and environmental educators in the Sierra Nevada are members of our network. In Autumn 2005 we opened a new operation in Truckee, bringing school groups from Sacramento and the Bay Area to the Clair Tappaan Lodge at Donner Summit.
